Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has publicly blamed four of Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s inner circle for fueling the ongoing political unrest in Rivers State. Speaking in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike identified Edison Ehie, Chijioke Ihunwo, Victor Oko Jumbo, and advocate Ankio Briggs as the primary influencers who provided the governor with detrimental guidance.
The minister stated that these individuals are responsible for the governor distancing himself from the peace terms previously established by President Bola Tinubu. According to Wike, Fubara has suffered the most significant setbacks throughout this instability. Wike expressed personal sympathy for the governor, labeling him the primary victim of his own political decisions.
This conflict between the current governor and his predecessor has caused significant regional turmoil, once prompting President Tinubu to threaten intervention. Although reports suggest a recent attempt at reconciliation, the political landscape in Rivers State remains deeply fractured following the period of intense friction.
