Wike asserts Abuja is evolving into Nigeria’s premier investment hub

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has declared that Abuja is rapidly becoming Nigeria’s most investor-friendly city, citing improved infrastructure, digital governance reforms, and a firm crackdown on fraudulent land practices.

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has stated that his administration is actively turning Abuja into the most favorable business climate in Nigeria. Represented by Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, the FCT Minister of State, Wike spoke at the Abuja Business and Investment Expo 3.0, emphasizing that the capital is open to credible investors. He notably cautioned that those engaging in land speculation or fraudulent activities would not be tolerated.

Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the government is prioritizing infrastructure as a foundation for economic growth. Wike highlighted significant urban renewal efforts, including road expansion, improved water supply, and advancements in healthcare and education. These initiatives contributed to the FCT reaching fourth place in the 2025 Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) rankings.

The administration is streamlining processes through digital governance and land reform to remove bureaucratic hurdles. While Wike reaffirmed support for legitimate business owners, he clarified that this regulatory ease does not equate to a lack of oversight. Key sectors identified for growth include real estate, technology, renewable energy, and tourism.

Ambassador Maureen Tamuno, head of the Abuja Investments Company Ltd, stated that the three-day expo serves as a vital platform for creating partnerships. She praised the ongoing infrastructure improvements, which are designed to make the capital city a top-tier global business destination.
