West Ham Forward Michaël Antonio Returns To Football Six Months After Near-Fatal Ferrari Crash That Shattered His Leg

Michail Antonio made his return to football for the first time since his near-fatal car crash in December.

The 35-year-old came off the bench in the 85th minute during Jamaica’s 1-0 loss to Guatemala in the Gold Cup in California.

Although Jamaica suffered a group stage defeat, Antonio’s brief appearance marked a significant milestone in his recovery.

The West Ham forward had been sidelined since crashing his Ferrari into a tree late last year.

Antonio sustained a lower limb fracture in the crash and underwent surgery.

He was discharged from the hospital in late December and has since been focused on regaining fitness. In February, he traveled to Dubai for warm-weather training as part of his recovery.

West Ham manager Graham Potter confirmed that Antonio had resumed light training and was back kicking balls with the first team toward the end of last season.
