Jorge Rodriguez, President of the Venezuelan National Assembly, announced that the number of fatalities from the twin earthquakes last month has climbed to 4,333. This updated figure marks an increase from the 4,118 deaths previously recorded on Friday.
The seismic activity, which struck on June 24 with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, devastated Caracas and La Guaira, destroying numerous high-rise buildings. Rodriguez, the brother of interim leader Delcy Rodriguez, confirmed that displaced residents are now sheltering in temporary camps established across sidewalks, plazas, and stadiums. Over 19,000 survivors are currently occupying these emergency sites.
Local and international volunteers continue to operate field medical clinics and distribute essential food supplies to those affected. Officials have not yet released data regarding the number of individuals still considered missing.
