Hussaini and Hassan Malami, identical twins, have successfully joined the NNPC Tigers Class of 2026. Their hiring dispels the persistent myth that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation refuses to hire multiple members of the same family. While Hussaini actively sought a position at the firm, Hassan initially hesitated due to his own aspirations in the Nigerian Air Force and a belief that his sibling would have better luck alone.
Hassan also felt discouraged by the past unsuccessful applications of three older siblings. However, after persistent persuasion from his brother, Hassan submitted his application just before the cutoff. The pair sat for their computer-based tests in separate cities, Sokoto and Kaduna, before both receiving their job offers on the same day.
Hussaini is currently employed at NNPC Exploration & Production Limited, whereas Hassan works for the NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company. The experience has changed Hassan’s perspective on the industry, as he now views his corporate role as a vital way to serve Nigeria. Hussaini, on the other hand, hopes to eventually bring his industry knowledge back to the university classroom as a guest lecturer.
When asked about the corporate culture, Hussaini prioritized the Enterprise First pillar, while Hassan identified with Execution Excellence due to his background in civil engineering. The brothers encourage other job seekers to ignore rumors about needing connections and instead trust in the merit-based recruitment process.
