Augustine Kelechi, known professionally as Tekno, recently shared the emotional toll of dealing with vocal cord complications caused by acid reflux. The condition halted his flourishing career between 2018 and 2021, forcing him into a lengthy break from the industry.
In a discussion on Cool FM Lagos, the artist explained that he initially hid his medical struggles from his team. Consequently, those closest to him misinterpreted his silence and absence as a lack of drive, frequently labeling him as lazy. Tekno admitted that he reached a point of despair, noting that he developed a deep resentment toward music during his recovery period.
While he eventually returned to the studio, he did so primarily due to contractual obligations with Universal rather than a passion for performing. He eventually found his path back to creativity by reading inspirational literature, which helped him heal emotionally and rekindle his relationship with music.
