Several people are feared dead after suspected armed herdsmen carried out a deadly attack late Sunday night on the Tyoshin community in Naka, the headquarters of Gwer West Local Government Area, Benue State.

Local sources reported that the attackers struck under the cover of darkness, causing panic among residents.

The exact number of casualties is still unknown, but eyewitnesses described the assault as brutal and devastating.

One of the victims identified from the Naka attack is Monday Dooden, a native of the community.

His brother, Akawe Francis, took to social media to share his grief: “Monday Dooden, my brother, we ran away from the village because of Fulani attacks to Naka over 10 years ago, but we didn’t escape. Last night you were killed by the same Fulani.”

Earlier that day, a similar attack was reportedly carried out by suspected herdsmen in Edikwu Ankpali, Apa Local Government Area, where several people were also said to have been killed.
