Authorities in Greece have reported that a 26-year-old man has admitted to killing Elisabeth-Jane Ross, a 38-year-old Scottish woman whose remains were discovered inside a suitcase within a vacant property in the Kypseli neighborhood of Athens. Ross had been reported missing prior to the grim discovery on July 18.
A collaborative investigation involving law enforcement from Greece, the United Kingdom, Scotland, and the United States led to the suspect’s apprehension. The individual, identified by sources as an Afghan national, reportedly confessed while in custody at police headquarters. He currently faces potential charges involving manslaughter, robbery, and weapons-related violations, though formal legal charges remain pending.
Evidence gathered by investigators suggests the suspect transported the victim’s remains to the abandoned site and subsequently accessed her financial accounts to withdraw funds. During a search of his residence, officers recovered a knife and a replica firearm. Investigators are currently working to locate acquaintances of the victim in the Kypseli area and are expediting toxicology reports to determine the exact cause of death.
