Stray Bullet Kills Teenager At Lagos Anti-Cultism Rally
A 16-year-old boy named Mustapha was tragically struck and killed by a stray bullet on Monday, April 21, in the Oyingbo area of Ebute Metta, Lagos State, during a suspected cult clash.
The incident happened shortly after a peace walk organized by local youths aimed at promoting unity and discouraging cult violence in the area.
According to witnesses, the peace walk had just ended when an argument erupted among the participants.
A resident, speaking anonymously, said the argument escalated when a suspected cultist pulled out a firearm and began shooting indiscriminately, resulting in Mustapha being struck by a stray bullet.
One of the organisers was also hit and is currently in critical condition.
“Mustapha just came out to support the walk. He was not part of any gang. He is a calm and respectful boy. He was taken to the hospital after the bullet hit him but he died on the way,” the source added.
The shooting caused panic in the community, bringing the event to an abrupt end.
