The State House has officially distanced itself from the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), informing a House of Representatives committee that it never requested a budget code for the group from the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation. Officials stated they were entirely unaware of the council until news reports emerged.
During the session led by Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, Abdulkadri Idris, representing the Permanent Secretary, labeled documents attributed to the State House as fraudulent. He confirmed that no official named Akande Adewale has ever served as a director, nor does the mentioned Directorate of Administration and Support Services exist within the Presidency. The committee observed significant discrepancies between documents from the Accountant-General and official government records.
Meanwhile, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) addressed its role in providing official government license plates to the council. Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed explained that the agency approved the request after verifying documentation, a government-linked website, and a physical office location at the Federal Secretariat. Upon learning the agency was illegitimate, the FRSC initiated a retrieval process for the seven issued plates.
The committee chair noted that the documents presented to the FRSC lacked proper security features despite listing high-ranking officials as board members. The investigation remains ongoing, with the committee requiring the FRSC to locate all vehicles registered under the unauthorized body before concluding its findings next week.
