Imo State police have arrested six officers after a viral video showed them assaulting a man in the Ikeduru area, prompting a formal disciplinary investigation.

The Imo State Police Command has launched an official inquiry into claims that a man was mistreated in Nduhobokwe, Uzoagba, located within the Ikeduru Local Government Area. This move follows the emergence of a video online that depicts several officers physically harming a man.

Authorities have named the six individuals involved as Inspector Ugochukwu Ibe, Inspector Nwachi Chimezie, Sergeant Ugoezuhu Austin, Corporal Michael Obi, Corporal Ebuka Onwuegbu, and Corporal Amos Sunny. State Commissioner of Police Audu Garba Bosso has ordered a comprehensive probe to clarify the details of the incident.

All six officers are currently detained, and internal disciplinary proceedings have started according to Nigeria Police Force protocols. The command maintains a firm stance against officer misconduct and the infringement of human rights, promising to share the investigation results with the public once they are finalized.
