Sean Dyche recently offered his perspective on the tactics of new Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola. Iraola, who arrived at Anfield this summer, previously enjoyed a successful tenure with AFC Bournemouth, where he guided the team to a sixth-place finish and their maiden European qualification.
Speaking on The Good, The Bad and The Football podcast, Dyche characterized Iraola’s approach as a high-intensity, elevated version of lower-league football. He noted that the Spaniard’s teams focus on relentless pressure and constant movement, which eventually forces opponents into submission.
Dyche highlighted Iraola’s tactical adaptability, recalling how the Bournemouth manager moved away from a traditional Spanish possession style after a match against Everton. In their subsequent encounter, Iraola deployed a more aggressive strategy that forced defenders into constant recovery runs, showcasing his ability to adjust and succeed.
Iraola has signed a two-year deal with Liverpool with the goal of returning the club to the top of major competitions.
