SDP applauds rescue of kidnapped Oyo students and teachers, pays tribute to fallen soldier

The SDP has praised the successful rescue of kidnapped Oyo schoolchildren and staff while expressing condolences for Lieutenant Felix Ademe Isaac, who died during the operation.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has lauded Nigerian security personnel for the effective retrieval of kidnapped pupils and educators in Oyo State. However, the party also expressed deep sorrow over the death of an Army officer killed throughout the mission.

National Publicity Secretary Araba Rufus Aiyenigba stated on Sunday that the multi-agency, intelligence-driven effort was highly professional. The victims had remained in captivity for over 56 days before their release.

The group emphasized that the incident, which began on May 15, 2026, at schools in the Oriire Local Government Area, highlighted the state of national security. They argued that the success proves the effectiveness of strong leadership and synchronized operations.

The SDP specifically honored the bravery of 28-year-old Lieutenant Felix Ademe Isaac, who perished during the operation. They recognized his sacrifice as instrumental in bringing the victims home to their families.

Finally, the party encouraged the federal authorities to prioritize solutions for poverty, hunger, and inequality, which they identified as root causes of regional instability. They expressed optimism that democratic governance will eventually yield better safety and growth for all citizens.
