World number one Scottie Scheffler has moved into the top spot at the Travelers Championship after carding a 10-under-par 60 during the second round. Playing at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut, Scheffler tallied 11 birdies against one bogey to reach a total of 16-under.
Viktor Hovland sits in second place, trailing by two strokes. The Norwegian golfer surged up the leaderboard with an impressive 61 that featured an eagle and seven birdies. Scheffler, who previously achieved a 59 at the 2020 Northern Trust, narrowly missed a chance to repeat that score when his birdie attempt on the 18th hole drifted past the cup.
Reflecting on his performance, the four-time major champion noted the difficulty of the final putt but expressed satisfaction with his overall play. He aims to maintain his consistency throughout the weekend.
Behind the leaders, Akshay Bhatia and Eric Cole are tied for third at 12-under. Meanwhile, Matt Fitzpatrick holds 10-under after a 66, sitting just ahead of fellow English players Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood, while Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre remains in contention at 8-under.
