Sanwo-Olu Urges Youth Corpers to Prioritize National Progress

Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on NYSC members to prioritize the nation’s future, as state officials emphasize the value of youth contributions to local development.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has praised the 2026 Batch B, Stream I corps members for their commitment during their recently completed three-week orientation. During the closing ceremony at the Iyana-Ipaja temporary camp, the governor encouraged the youth to embody the NYSC principles of service and humility throughout their careers.

Represented by Permanent Secretary Mrs. Oluwatoyin Osanyintolu, the governor highlighted that these corps members are vital partners in development. He urged local employers to foster supportive workplaces, noting that the energy and ideas these individuals provide are essential assets to the state. Furthermore, the governor promised continued government support for the safety and welfare of all corps members, with recognition offered to those who lead impactful community initiatives.

Lagos NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Christina Salmwang, noted that the participants are well-prepared for their upcoming assignments. She highlighted the success of the camp’s Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development training, urging the youth to avoid tribal and religious biases while fostering teamwork. While discussions regarding potential reforms to the NYSC scheme by the Federal Executive Council remain ongoing, stakeholders involved in the oversight process have not yet provided formal comments on the pending policy reviews.
