Roberto De Zerbi discusses uncertainty regarding Richarlison’s Tottenham future

Roberto De Zerbi states that Tottenham is unsure if Richarlison will stay, as the forward frequently shifts his stance on whether he wants to leave the club.

Roberto De Zerbi has admitted that Tottenham remains uncertain about the future of forward Richarlison, noting that the player’s intentions regarding a potential exit seem to change. The 29-year-old Brazilian international recently netted a dramatic stoppage-time goal during a 2-1 victory against Chelsea in a Sydney Super Cup exhibition match, despite Tottenham playing with ten men.

With only one year remaining on his current contract, questions about a potential summer departure have surfaced. De Zerbi praised the striker’s work ethic and character, describing him as an exceptional individual, but acknowledged the need to honor the player’s personal decisions. The manager stated that communication with Richarlison has been inconsistent, as his stance on remaining at the club or leaving frequently shifts.

Despite this ambiguity, the coach emphasized that Richarlison remains a valuable asset to the team. Having recorded 12 goals last season, his proven ability to find the back of the net makes him difficult to replace. The club continues to pursue additional attacking options in the transfer market, with names such as Savinho and Cody Gakpo linked to the side during an active period for the club’s recruitment staff.
