Commuters and local inhabitants are calling on Governor Dapo Abiodun to prioritize the completion of the second phase of the Mowe-Ofada road. They argue that finishing this segment is essential for enhancing travel safety and reducing daily travel pressures.
While the reconstruction of the initial portion was welcomed, citizens expressed that the unfinished stretch causes significant congestion, frequent automotive mechanical issues, and rising transit fees. Commercial driver Johnson Fadeyi highlighted that the road’s current state limits his daily trips and forces frequent costly repairs. Similarly, Bimpe Olaitan mentioned that the rough terrain creates immense difficulty for passengers, particularly during storms and busy commuting times.
Transporter Kadiri Bala stated that the deteriorating road impedes the local economy by delaying the movement of goods. Local resident Pastor Sunday Famuyiwa urged the authorities to implement temporary fixes to alleviate the current burden while waiting for a permanent, full-scale construction. He expressed optimism about the government’s focus on infrastructure, stressing that total completion would boost the regional economy and overall standard of living for those traversing the area daily.
