Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, has clarified the purpose of the recent delegation of traditional leaders from Oyo State to President Bola Tinubu. This information was shared via an official statement issued by his media assistant, Chief Adeola Oloko, on Thursday.
Alongside the Olubadan, several other influential traditional rulers participated in the meeting. Notable attendees included Oba Francis Alao, the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon; Oba Sefiu Oyebola, the Aseyin of Iseyin; Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, the Balogun of Ibadanland; and Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, the Osi Olubadan. Additional royal figures present were Oba Adeyeye Oyetunji, the Alajawa of Ajawa; High Chief S. Otolorin, representing the Soun of Ogbomoso; and Oba Abioye Basiru Olalekan, the Onigbeti of Igbeti.
Oba Ladoja, who serves as the head of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, stated that the visit served to express gratitude to President Tinubu. Specifically, the monarchs praised the administration for facilitating the rescue of students and teachers who had been kidnapped in the region. They acknowledged that while there was confidence in the national security forces, the successful return of the captives was a major relief.
Furthermore, the traditional rulers commended the federal government for ongoing efforts to rehabilitate critical infrastructure. Key routes highlighted include the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road, the Ogbomoso-Ilorin Road dualisation project, and the Badagry-Sokoto road segment passing through the Ibarapa and Oke-Ogun districts. According to the Olubadan, these improvements will significantly enhance connectivity and economic access for the towns situated along these routes.
