Prime Minister Andy Burnham has reiterated the United Kingdom’s firm commitment to Ukraine as he prepares to host President Volodymyr Zelensky this Monday. This visit marks the first time a foreign leader has met with the Prime Minister since his appointment last week, highlighting the strong bond between the two nations.
During their meeting at a naval base, Burnham will announce that the intellectual property for the British “Stone Cloak” electronic warfare technology will be shared with Ukraine, allowing for large-scale domestic production. These compact jammers, already utilized by Ukrainian forces to protect drones from detection, represent significant British innovation.
Downing Street confirmed that this technology will also be integrated into upcoming UK long-range weapon initiatives, such as the Project Brakestop low-cost cruise missile program. In addition to technical cooperation, the leaders are scheduled to address over 200 Ukrainian military members who recently completed Exercise Sea Breeze, a three-week maritime training mission focused on Black Sea warfighting and counter-mine strategies.
Since the Russian invasion began four years ago, the UK has pledged £25 billion to the Ukrainian war effort. While President Zelensky acknowledged general anxieties regarding leadership transitions in allied nations, he expressed hope that the robust relationship between the UK and Ukraine will persist throughout and beyond the ongoing conflict.
