Primate Ayodele Urges President Tinubu to Heed Cardinal Onaiyekan’s Warning

Primate Elijah Ayodele has advised President Bola Tinubu to address the economic grievances raised by Cardinal John Onaiyekan, warning that failure to act could lead to electoral consequences in 2027.

Primate Elijah Ayodele, the head of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has called on President Bola Tinubu to take the warnings of Cardinal John Onaiyekan seriously. The Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja recently highlighted that rising public frustration could negatively impact future election outcomes if the government fails to resolve ongoing national difficulties.

During a service in Lagos, Ayodele suggested that the President should accept the cleric’s feedback as an accurate reflection of the national sentiment. He praised Cardinal Onaiyekan for his bravery, noting that other religious figures have been reluctant to offer similar advice. Ayodele stated that the current levels of hunger and public dissatisfaction are significant.

The cleric argued that economic distress cannot be overlooked. He warned that using handouts to sway voters will not change the results of the 2027 presidential election if the government does not improve its performance. Ayodele advised the President to prioritize governance over the influence of political aides, claiming that relying on them could lead to political failure.
