While the Iranian foreign ministry claims no such talks exist, focusing instead on transit negotiations with Oman, the President maintained that the two nations are indeed seeking a resolution. The core objectives for the United States remain the full denuclearization of Iran and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping. Tensions have remained elevated since the outbreak of hostilities in February, with ongoing concerns regarding Iranian missile capabilities and drone activity.
The situation in the Strait of Hormuz remains particularly volatile. On Tuesday, the UK Maritime Trade Operations reported that an unidentified projectile struck a cargo ship near the Omani coast. Despite the lack of an official agreement, Iran continues to control the waterway, insisting that vessels follow routes close to its coastline, a demand that Washington categorically rejects. President Trump warned that until a formal deal or total surrender is reached, the United States would maintain its counter-blockade of Iranian ports to restrict the flow of goods.
