Fredrick Nwabufo, a Senior Special Assistant on Public Engagement for President Bola Tinubu, has publicly stated that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, does not possess a solid grasp of how to run a government. This critique followed an interview where Obi promised to foster national unity if he wins the 2027 election.
In an official statement, Nwabufo argued that Obi relies on vague sentiments rather than offering concrete policies or well-thought-out plans. He claimed that Obi failed to provide a clear strategy for uniting the country, suggesting that his rhetoric only serves to widen existing divisions in Nigeria.
According to Nwabufo, true national cohesion depends on equitable citizenship, economic integration, and inclusive governance. He asserted that President Tinubu’s administration has already excelled in these areas by distributing resources fairly across all six geopolitical zones without bias. Furthermore, the Presidency highlighted that President Tinubu has strengthened national unity by appointing young professionals from diverse backgrounds to lead key government sectors, a move they describe as unprecedented in the nation’s history.
