The Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) has issued a mandate requiring the immediate removal of all illegal roadside structures throughout Plateau State. General Manager Arch. Hart Bankat announced that property owners have seven business days to clear kiosks, canopies, temporary stalls, car wash bays, and vehicle sales points located along highways, roundabouts, and government zones.
The agency clarified that non-compliance will result in penalties. This initiative is part of an effort to reclaim public spaces from unapproved development. Additionally, the JMDB issued a strict 48-hour ultimatum to unauthorized occupants at the Gyartagere Stone Crushing Site to vacate the premises, citing previous ignored warnings. Any structures remaining after the deadline will be demolished at the owner’s risk, and the state will not provide compensation for damages.
Individuals who believe they have legitimate claims at the Gyartagere site are encouraged to visit the JMDB office for formal verification. The board has also requested that local community leaders and residents assist in spreading awareness of this final notice to ensure timely compliance.
