The Plateau State administration has officially denounced the brutal assault on the Kawel community located in the Mushere Chiefdom of Bokkos Local Government Area. This tragedy resulted in the deaths of more than 22 individuals and left several others wounded.
Labeling the Sunday event as a barbaric and irrational act of aggression, the government shared its deepest sympathies with the grieving families. Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, noted that the state is wishing a fast recovery to those currently under medical care.
Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has ordered security forces to boost their presence in the region, track down those responsible, and guarantee they face the full weight of the law. Furthermore, humanitarian organizations have been instructed to distribute essential aid to the survivors and their relatives.
The government is pleading with local citizens to stay composed, alert, and cooperative with law enforcement by sharing any useful intelligence. Officials explicitly cautioned against any retaliatory violence, emphasizing that the rule of law will be followed.
