Peter Obi Urges Religious Leaders to Challenge Authority with Integrity

Peter Obi has advised Nigerian church leaders to uphold their commitment to social justice and to consistently hold the government accountable for its actions.

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has formally requested that church leadership maintain their resolve in holding those in power accountable. He issued this message during the 50th/15th Biennial Conference of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, held in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Obi emphasized that the church represents a critical pillar of moral guidance and optimism for the nation. He encouraged attendees to continue supporting disadvantaged citizens while promoting themes of justice and effective governance to improve the country.

The former presidential candidate attended the event alongside Governor Seyi Makinde. During his address, he expressed gratitude for the church’s enduring influence and reiterated his call for delegates to advocate for honesty. Furthermore, he asked the congregation to pray that political figures might gain the wisdom to manage public funds responsibly for the benefit of all citizens.
