Esther Umoh, who serves as Obi’s photographer, published images of the encounter on the social media platform X. A short note posted with the photographs confirmed that the NDC candidate had indeed conferred with the elder statesman.
This visit follows recent assertions by Akin Osuntokun, a former advisor to Obasanjo, who stated that the ex-president is a key architect in the partnership between Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso. During a broadcast on Arise Television, Osuntokun refuted claims that Obasanjo backs President Bola Tinubu, arguing instead that he is focused on unifying opposition figures.
Obi recently departed the African Democratic Congress to establish the NDC with his running mate, Rabi’u Kwamkwanso, following concerns over internal party conflicts and various legal disputes.
