Three-time major winner Padraig Harrington has been recruited by Luke Donald to serve as a vice-captain for the 2027 Ryder Cup, which will be hosted at Adare Manor in the Republic of Ireland. The 54-year-old Dubliner joins Edoardo and Francesco Molinari in the support staff as Team Europe looks to secure a third consecutive victory against the United States.
Harrington’s history with the event includes six appearances as a player and three stints as a vice-captain, in addition to leading the European team during the 2021 competition. Expressing his excitement, Harrington noted that he had not anticipated wearing the European team badge again and emphasized how meaningful it is to participate in the event on home soil.
Captain Luke Donald, who secured victories in both 2023 and 2025, aims to make history at Adare Manor by becoming the first captain to achieve three consecutive wins. Donald highlighted that Harrington’s deep understanding of Irish fans and his extensive experience in previous team rooms make him a vital asset for the upcoming contest. This marks the first time the Ryder Cup has returned to Ireland since the 2006 tournament at the K Club.
