Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a prominent figure in the Osun State All Progressives Congress, has criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission for the current challenges voters face while obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards. He argued that the current system is burdensome and necessitates urgent reform.
Speaking in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye requested that electoral officials establish a more accessible system before the upcoming gubernatorial election. He believes that streamlining this procedure will encourage higher voter participation.
Despite these administrative hurdles, the former legislator encouraged citizens to remain patient and fulfill their civic duty by securing their cards. He also emphasized the necessity for increased security during the collection period to ensure safety and prevent any attempts to stifle voter engagement.
Furthermore, Oyintiloye called upon security personnel to act with professionalism to protect the public throughout the election cycle and to prosecute those who incite violence. Regarding the political climate, he expressed strong confidence that the APC gubernatorial candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, will win due to significant local support.
