The Ogun State Executive Council has sanctioned a broad range of infrastructure initiatives and traditional governance updates. Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration aims to drive urban renewal and cultural preservation through these projects.
Key housing developments include the construction of 450 two-bedroom bungalows, 28 legislative quarters for the State House of Assembly, and 28 duplexes for sale at the Ibara GRA Scheme II. Furthermore, the Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, is set for reconstruction to ensure modern, functional facilities for state leadership.
Road infrastructure will also see significant investment across the three senatorial districts to boost local connectivity and trade. Specifically, the government approved the reconstruction of the Okun-Owa–Ijebu-Ode Road, the Ago-Iwoye–Ijebu-Igbo–Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic Road, the Odeda-Olugbo Road (Phase One), the Ayobo–Lafenwa Junction Road in Ota, and the Agbala Road in Iperu.
Regarding traditional institutions, the Council upgraded several stools, including the Akoko of Tongeji Island, the Onitafin of Orile Itafin, and the Olu of Orile Itori-Odo. Additional coronet stools within the Ijebu, Egba, and Yewa councils were also elevated to support grassroots administration.
Hon. Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, stated that these actions replace aging, dilapidated structures with durable facilities. The administration views these investments as essential for sustaining long-term economic growth, improving public service delivery, and respecting the cultural heritage of the state.
