NSCDC Fires Two Operatives for Illegal Firearm Distribution, Clears Mining Commander

The NSCDC has terminated two Mining Marshal operatives for providing arms to illegal miners but cleared their commander, ACC John Onoja, of financial and negligence allegations.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) announced on Wednesday the dismissal of two Mining Marshal operatives for supplying illegal miners with weapons. Commandant General Prof. Ahmed Audi stated that their behavior violated core agency protocols.

While the two individuals face termination and potential prosecution for serious misconduct and professional negligence, the agency officially cleared Mining Marshals Commander ACC John Onoja. He had previously been accused of involvement in the diversion of N2 billion and mishandling the events surrounding the death of personnel Levi Agada in Nasarawa state.

National Public Relations Officer Babawale Afolabi explained that the investigation regarding the February 18, 2026, incident confirmed that the allegations against Commander Onoja and his management team were baseless. The probe determined that there was no evidence of foul play regarding the death of Agada.
