Members of the Nigerian Navy from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Formoso successfully saved two 16-year-old boys following a boating accident in the Egweama area of Bayelsa State. The announcement came from Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the Director of Naval Information, during a briefing in Abuja.
On July 28, 2026, the two teenagers were navigating the local waterways when their wooden boat flipped over because of harsh water conditions. Stranded and facing a high risk of drowning, the victims were spotted by naval personnel stationed nearby. The crew acted quickly to pull the boys from the water and bring them to safety.
Following the rescue, the teenagers received medical checks and support to ensure they were in good health. Officials noted that the operation highlights the Navy’s focus on maritime safety and its dedication to protecting lives in coastal regions.
