Nigeria Sends Condolences Following the Passing of Qatar’s Former Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani

The Nigerian government has conveyed its condolences to Qatar following the death of former leader Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, acknowledging his contributions to the nation’s development.

The Nigerian government has officially extended its sympathies to the leadership and citizens of Qatar regarding the passing of the nation’s Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. In an announcement released this Sunday by Ministry of Foreign Affairs representative Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the country shared its grief with the Al Thani family and the Qatari public.

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani held the position of Emir from 1995 until 2013. Nigeria lauded him as a forward-thinking statesman whose influence on Qatar’s modernization and regional development remains significant. The official statement highlighted that his dedication to international cooperation and his steady leadership will be honored by his compatriots and global allies for years to come.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu reached out to the current Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on behalf of the Nigerian people to express formal condolences. She emphasized Nigeria’s support for the Gulf nation during this period of bereavement and offered prayers for peace and solace to the grieving family.
