The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has declared that it will shift to a yearly recruitment cycle rather than conducting hiring irregularly. Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi shared this update during a media gathering at the agency’s Abuja headquarters on Tuesday.
Adeniyi noted that this change aims to establish a reliable staffing strategy. By streamlining the process, the agency can fill vacancies left by retiring staff more effectively while providing consistent career paths for young citizens. The leadership has abandoned the previous model where candidates faced long, unpredictable gaps between recruitment windows.
The agency is now equipped with the necessary screening and verification infrastructure to manage this frequent intake. Adeniyi confirmed that the 2026 recruitment drive is scheduled to launch later this year. He emphasized his commitment to finishing the entire process, from the initial advertisement to the final selection of candidates, within the 2026 calendar year.
