Nigeria and United States Strengthen Collaboration in Solid Minerals Sector

Nigeria and the United States are formalizing a strategic partnership to boost investment and innovation across the critical minerals supply chain.

The Nigerian government is working to expand its strategic alliance and investment opportunities with the United States regarding solid minerals. Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, headed a delegation from the Nigeria Solid Minerals Company to the White House for talks with David Copley, the U.S. Senior Director for Global Supply Chain at the National Security Council.

This discussion centered on enhancing cooperation throughout the entire critical minerals value chain. Key areas identified for improvement include geological surveying, mining operations, mineral processing, and refining. Both nations aim to build secure, durable supply chains to support the global transition toward sustainable energy.

These efforts are part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s broader economic strategy, which emphasizes diversification, industrial growth, and job creation. By focusing on investment-led cooperation, the partnership intends to foster sustainable mineral development and long-term economic gains for both countries.
