Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the recent US-mediated agreement with Lebanon as a significant success that weakens Israel’s primary adversaries, Iran and Hezbollah. During a broadcasted address, Netanyahu characterized the pact as a historic milestone reached through direct talks between the two nations.
Addressing the presence of Israeli military forces, Netanyahu confirmed that troops would continue to occupy a security zone extending 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory. He stated that this buffer will be maintained until Hezbollah and other militant groups are entirely disarmed. According to the Prime Minister, both the United States and the Lebanese government have acknowledged Israel’s authority to preserve this security zone as a vital measure for national safety. The military presence is expected to persist until these groups no longer represent a danger to Israel from within Lebanon.
