Mimi Rhodes and Leona Maguire Secure Solheim Cup Wildcard Spots

Captain Anna Nordqvist has announced her wildcard selections for the European Solheim Cup team, featuring debutants Mimi Rhodes, Julia Lopez Ramirez, and Nastasia Nadaud, alongside the experienced Leona Maguire.

Captain Anna Nordqvist has finalized her European Solheim Cup squad, awarding wildcard spots to Britain’s Mimi Rhodes and Ireland’s Leona Maguire. The upcoming competition against the United States is scheduled for next month in the Netherlands.

Despite recent struggles in form, Maguire brings significant experience to the team, marking her fourth appearance. Nordqvist praised the Irish golfer’s stellar history in matchplay, noting her consistent ability to elevate her performance in the Solheim Cup environment.

Rhodes, a 24-year-old rising star, will make her tournament debut alongside fellow rookies Julia Lopez Ramirez of Spain and France’s Nastasia Nadaud. While Rhodes has faced inconsistent results this year, her success on the Ladies European Tour and competitive spirit earned her the captain’s confidence.

Nordqvist expressed enthusiasm for the youth and energy provided by her rookie selections. Lopez Ramirez is noted for her ball-striking prowess, while Nadaud is recognized for her steady progression and strong performance during the 2026 season.

These newcomers will join automatic qualifiers, including Charley Hull, Esther Henseleit, Maja Stark, Linn Grant, Celine Boutier, Carlota Ciganda, Nanna Koerstz Madsen, and Lottie Woad. The tournament at Bernardus begins on September 11, with the American team roster to be announced by captain Angela Stanford on August 24.
