Soldiers from the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation HADIN KAI, recently detained a 21-year-old individual suspected of collaborating with terrorists. The arrest took place during a secret mission conducted in Magumeri, Borno State.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported the incident via social media. The suspect, Abur Mallam Shuaibu, was taken into custody on July 30 at approximately 3:00 p.m. by the 109 Special Forces Battalion working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force.
Intelligence reports suggested that Shuaibu had entered Magumeri to attend a memorial service for his deceased father. Upon initial questioning, he reportedly acknowledged participating in cattle theft, roadside ambushes on the Magumeri–Gubio route, and the extortion of local villages.
The suspect noted that these criminal actions drove many locals to abandon their homes to escape the threat of violence over unpaid levies. Authorities plan to transfer the individual to the Joint Intelligence Fusion Centre for deeper investigation.
