Manchester City have agreed a £46.3m (€55m) deal with AC Milan to sign Tijjani Reijnders.
The Netherlands international is set to sign a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium.
According to Fabrizio Romano, a verbal agreement is now in place after personal terms were settled earlier this week. Only the final formalities between the two clubs remain as the transfer nears completion.
Reijnders enjoyed an impressive season with Milan, contributing 15 goals and five assists in 54 appearances across all competitions.
Despite Milan finishing eighth in Serie A, the Dutch midfielder was named the league’s midfielder of the season.
Meanwhile, City continue talks with Wolves over £40m-rated Rayan Ait Nouri and Lyon for Rayan Cherki.
Attacking midfielder Cherki, 21, is valued at around £35m after scoring 12 goals in 44 games this season, including two against Manchester United in the Europa League.
Cherki was also part of the France U23 team that won a silver medal at last summer’s Olympic Games.
Although he has yet to play for France’s senior national team, Cherki recently received his first call-up and could make his debut in Thursday’s UEFA Nations League semi-final against Spain.
City aim to complete the signing of Ait-Nouri before the Club World Cup to bolster Pep Guardiola’s defense.
The 23-year-old Wolves left-back has been closely watched by City scouts for the past year.
