French striker Kadidiatou Diani has committed to a three-year contract with London City Lionesses. The transfer fee for the 31-year-old, who boasts over 100 international caps, is reported to be over £500,000. Diani opted for the move to the Women’s Super League despite interest from other European teams, leaving her previous club, Lyon, a year before her contract was scheduled to expire.
During her time at Lyon, Diani netted 41 goals in 93 matches following her transition from Paris St-Germain in 2023. Expressing enthusiasm for the move, she noted the independent and ambitious nature of the London club as primary factors in her decision. Her primary goals include qualifying for the Champions League and securing silverware for her new side.
This transfer brings her back under the influence of club owner Michele Kang, who maintains ownership of both Lyon and the Washington Spirit. The Lionesses continue to bolster their squad, having already added high-profile players like Alexia Putellas, Mary Earps, and Mapi Leon during an active transfer period following their sixth-place finish in their first WSL season.
