LaLiga May Investigate Bellingham Over Provocative Celebration

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham could face disciplinary action after making a controversial gesture following his team’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona in Sunday’s El Clasico.

The England international was instrumental in the win, assisting Kylian Mbappe’s opener before restoring Madrid’s lead after Fermin Lopez had equalized.

However, during the post-match celebrations, Bellingham was seen gesturing toward his crotch and sticking out his tongue, a move reminiscent of the one that got him in trouble with UEFA during Euro 2024.

Last year, Bellingham performed the same act after scoring a dramatic equalizer in England’s 2-1 win over Slovakia in the tournament’s round of 16. He was subsequently fined £25,400 and handed a suspended one-match ban, which expired earlier this year.

At the time, Bellingham defended his actions, explaining it was “an inside joke gesture toward some close friends” and not meant disrespectfully.

While UEFA has no authority over LaLiga matches, it remains uncertain whether Spain’s football federation or LaLiga officials will impose any sanctions this time.
