Criminals who kidnapped Justice Faruku Bunza of the Kebbi State High Court are seeking a N200 million payment for his safe return. Kebbi State Police Commissioner Umar Hadejia, along with the judge’s sibling Malami Bunza, verified the demand on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi.
Justice Bunza was seized from his home on Zogirma Road in Bunza early Sunday. Upon receiving word of the incident, police initiated an immediate investigation. Commissioner Hadejia reported that combined law enforcement units are currently scanning potential escape paths and have established checkpoints at critical locations to block the perpetrators.
The police chief remains optimistic that the tactical operation will result in the judge’s rescue and the capture of the kidnappers. The victim’s family stated that the abductors reached out to a High Court registrar in Abuja to discuss the ransom terms. Yusuf Bunza confirmed receiving a direct demand for N200 million, stating that the family is relying on security agencies to handle the situation.
