Kebbi CP Decorates 37 Newly Promoted Police Officers
The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, on Thursday decorated 37 officers elevated to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
The ceremony, held at the State Police Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, followed the Nigeria Police Force’s nationwide promotion exercise approved by the Police Service Commission and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
While decorating the officers, CP Sani congratulated them on behalf of the IGP and urged them to view their promotion as a call to higher responsibility. He reminded them to remain professional, disciplined, and committed to protecting the rights of citizens while shunning corruption and unethical conduct.
“You must also respect the fundamental human rights of citizens in the discharge of your responsibilities,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the promotees, DSP Ahmed Abubakar expressed gratitude to the IGP and the Police Service Commission, pledging that the newly promoted officers would redouble their efforts toward professionalism and effective policing.
The event, attended by the command’s management team, family members, and well-wishers, comes at a time when Kebbi State grapples with security challenges such as banditry, cattle rustling, and kidnapping in rural areas.
Security experts say the elevation of the officers is expected to enhance leadership within divisional commands and specialised units, reinforcing the broader push to professionalise the force and strengthen community trust.
