Benfica boss Jose Mourinho has weighed in on the public disagreement between Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa and striker Kylian Mbappe.
The conflict began when Mbappe criticized Arbeloa’s squad rotation, specifically his exclusion from the high-stakes match against Barcelona.
Furthermore, the French forward stated he had been relegated to the position of fourth-choice striker at the club.
Arbeloa dismissed these claims, asserting that Mbappe had misinterpreted his earlier statements and that the accusations were inaccurate.
Reflecting on the situation, Mourinho admitted he found the conflict difficult to witness due to his close friendship with Arbeloa.
He praised Arbeloa for his commitment during their time together and expressed pride in his former player’s managerial career.
Mourinho also highlighted the challenges of the coaching profession, noting that he often cautions former players that the demands of management far exceed those of being a professional athlete.
He remains supportive of Arbeloa’s progress in his current role at the Bernabeu.
