Jorginho Withdraws Criticism of Chappell Roan Following Brazilian Hotel Incident
Professional midfielder Jorginho has officially withdrawn his recent public criticism of pop star Chappell Roan, labeling the situation a “misunderstanding” after new details emerged regarding a confrontation in São Paulo, Brazil.
The controversy began last month when the 34-year-old Italian international alleged on social media that a member of Roan’s security team had inappropriately confronted his wife, Catherine Harding, and their 11-year-old daughter, Ada, during breakfast at their hotel.
In a follow-up statement issued on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, Jorginho clarified that while the incident did take place as originally described, the security guard involved was not actually employed by Roan.
The guard has since publicly confirmed that he was representing a different artist staying at the same hotel at the time. Jorginho noted that Roan had reached out privately to his wife and that their respective teams have since communicated to resolve the matter.
The veteran footballer expressed regret over the impact the public dispute had on all parties involved, acknowledging that Roan had no knowledge of the encounter and had not authorized anyone to approach his family.
While he maintained that his daughter could not have reasonably been perceived as a security threat, he emphasized the importance of setting the record straight once it became clear the singer was not responsible.
Jorginho concluded by stating that while he will always defend his family, he is committed to recognizing when initial appearances do not reflect the full reality of a situation.
