The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has rejected a formal ethics complaint lodged against FIFA President Gianni Infantino. This grievance was submitted by the human rights group FairSquare.
FairSquare asserted that Infantino violated regulations regarding political neutrality, specifically citing his conduct in relation to U.S. President Donald Trump. Their allegations focused on a disputed yellow card decision involving U.S. player Folarin Balogun and the presentation of a FIFA peace award to Trump.
On Friday, the IOC announced it would not launch an investigation or pursue disciplinary measures against the FIFA head. In a formal statement, the organization clarified that the issues raised pertain to the operational management of an international sports federation, its government interactions, and the enforcement of competition rules. Consequently, these matters fall outside the jurisdiction of the IOC Ethics Code.
