Inter Begin Contract Talks with Akinsanmiro
Inter Milan have initiated contract renewal discussions with Nigerian midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, signaling their intent to secure the 20-year-old’s future beyond his current 2026 deal. This comes after the young talent delivered an impressive stint on loan at Serie B side Sampdoria.
According to Italian publication FCInter1908, citing Sky Sport’s Gianluca Di Marzio, the Nerazzurri are not just focused on their upcoming Club World Cup campaign in the United States, they’re also laying down foundations for the future by investing in promising youth.
“Inter, who left for the US today for the Club World Cup, are simultaneously looking ahead and prioritizing the development of their young talents,” the report said. “Among them is Akinsanmiro, whose contract renewal discussions are now underway.”
Akinsanmiro joined Inter from Nigerian club Remo Stars in January 2023 on a four-year contract. After establishing himself in Inter’s youth ranks, he made his senior debut in February 2024 during a 4–0 Serie A victory over Lecce.
In the 2024/25 season, he was loaned out to Sampdoria, where he made 35 appearances, scoring once and assisting once. Despite the club’s relegation from Italy’s second tier, Akinsanmiro’s performances were widely praised, earning him attention as a future mainstay in Inter’s midfield.
The club now sees the Nigeria U-20 international as part of its long-term plans and is keen to keep him in Milan with a fresh contract.
