In anticipation of the August 15 Osun governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is prioritizing high-level staff performance. Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Osun State, initiated a two-day workshop on Tuesday to enhance the capabilities of Electoral Officers and their assistants.
Babalola emphasized that the primary goal of this initiative is to ensure personnel are fully prepared to handle their duties across all stages of the election. The training covers essential topics such as logistics management, the recruitment of ad hoc staff, and the systematic handling of election results. Furthermore, the program addresses communication strategies and the utilization of various technological tools required for modern electoral processes.
This in-house exercise serves as a foundational step ahead of more extensive technical training sessions organized by the commission. By providing this background, the INEC aims to ensure that its staff members are well-versed in election administration before further technical sessions commence. Attendees include heads of various departments and units who are expected to apply these insights to guarantee the successful conduct of the upcoming polls.
