The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially handed over Certificates of Return to the winners of the bye-elections held on June 20, 2026. These events took place in Rivers, Enugu, Nasarawa, Ondo, and Kano States.
An official statement confirmed the procedure. Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, the Supervising National Commissioner for Rivers State, acted on behalf of the commission’s chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, to distribute the documents.
During the ceremony, Agbamuche-Mbu addressed the victors, encouraging them to remain focused on the needs of their constituents. She emphasized that serving the public with diligence is their primary duty. Furthermore, the commission announced that similar certificates will soon be issued for winners of other recent contests, specifically the Zuru State Constituency election in Kebbi and the gubernatorial race in Ekiti.
