INEC CVR Portal Records Over 26,000 Visits Hours After Launch Of Nationwide Registration
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) portal has recorded more than 26,000 visits just hours after the nationwide exercise kicked off on Monday.
As of 12:35 p.m., the portal, www.cvr.inecnigeria.org, had logged 26,255 hits, the commission announced on its official X handle.
“In-person registration will take place at all its 37 state offices and 774 local government area offices nationwide, to ensure easy access for prospective voters,” INEC added.
While the online pre-registration is already active, physical registration across the country is scheduled to begin on August 25, 2025.
According to the commission, the exercise is open to Nigerians who have turned 18 and are registering for the first time, as well as those who wish to update their details, transfer their voting location, or replace lost and damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
INEC also cautioned against multiple registrations, stressing that violators risk prosecution.
To encourage wide participation, the commission urged citizens to take advantage of the process, directing inquiries to its call centre on 0700-CALL-INEC (0700-2255-4632) or short code 4632.
Reaffirming its commitment to democratic inclusion, INEC said it is determined to ensure that every eligible voter has the opportunity to register ahead of the upcoming general elections.
