Ifeanyi Udeze Views Malawi Loss as Necessary Warning for Super Falcons

Former Super Eagles star Ifeanyi Udeze insists that Nigeria’s recent loss to Malawi will serve as a vital wake-up call for the Super Falcons as they prepare to face Zambia.

Ifeanyi Udeze, a former member of the Super Eagles, believes the Super Falcons can still recover following their rough beginning at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. The Nigerian squad failed to defend their title effectively during an opening 3-2 defeat against Malawi, who are participating in the tournament for the first time. This result marks the first instance of Nigeria losing to a WAFCON newcomer.

To remain in contention for the knockout phase, Nigeria must secure a victory against Zambia in their upcoming Group C match. Zambia currently leads the group standings after defeating Egypt 6-0. Udeze shared his perspective with Brila FM, suggesting that the upset against Malawi serves as an essential reality check, and he remains confident that the Super Falcons will perform better when they face the Copper Queens.
